AN INTERVIEW WITH DOROTHY DIX AND MORE FOR “BUSINESS GIRLS”

[Labor] Oliver, Betty, editor. Business Girl Magazine. Vol. 1, no. 11. Feb.-March, 1946. Dallas, Texas: Business Girl Publishing Company, 1946.

12mo.; 62pp., illustrated; photographically illustrated green stapled wrappers.

A short-lived but interesting magazine for business women. Includes an interview with Dorothy Dix, an article on whether to use your own name or your husbands: “Mary Jones vs. Mrs. David Jones” by Betty Jacob; another about opportunities: “So You Didn’t Go to College”; profiles of successful business women, a “Business Girl Survey”, cartoons, tips on where to stay while on business trips, and other interesting articles, almost exclusively by women (there is one appropriate article by a man: “How to be a Good Boss in Reverse” by Tony Hagmann).

Scarce; we’ve never seen another issue and assume this had largely a regional distribution. OCLC locates a single broken run at Texas Woman’s University Library.
